How to do the Cat-Camel Stretch
Looking for a way to relax and loosen up after a long day of work? A cat-camel stretch is a great way to mobilize the spine and stretch your core muscles.
Get down on your knees and place your hands shoulder-width apart on your mat. Place your palms directly under your shoulders and knees under your hips. Make sure your keep your back straight and flat, parallel to the floor. You should look similar to a tabletop.
Relax your head and allow it to drop down. As your drop your head towards the floor, round your back up towards the ceiling until you feel a comfortable stretch. Breathe out and hold this pose for 15 seconds.
After you have held the camel pose for 15 seconds, return to a flat spine, tabletop-like position.
As you breathe in, allow your back to sway and press your stomach towards the floor, keeping your hands and feet in the same position. Life your buttocks towards the ceiling and Allow your head to tilt back slightly.
Repeat this sequence for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Don’t forget to breathe and keep your belly button pulled into your spine the entire time.
