How to Build your own Home Gym

Looking to work out more? Skip the pricey membership and set up your own home gym! If you’re on a budget or if you're limited to space in a small apartment, you can build endurance and strength from the comfort of your own home.

Small Room

If you’re limited to space, don’t stress about it. Don’t try to recreate your gym. Instead, stick to the basics and focus on creating the space you need for the workouts you love.

YOU WILL NEED:
☐ An Exercise Bike
☐ A Reusable Water Bottle
☐ A Massage Gun or Deep Tissue Massage Tool
☐ Weights or Dumbbells
☐ Yoga and Pilates Equipment and Accessories

Medium Room

If you only have one flex space or spare room, combine both a home gym and an office. Keep fitness equipment and office supplies separate by giving each function its own designated area. Avoid clutter by storing weights, jump ropes, yoga blocks and resistance bands in cube shelves and cube organizers.

Pro tip: Ensure there’s plenty of fresh air by moving close to a window, or add a fan.

YOU WILL NEED:
☐ A Treadmill
☐ A Fitness Trampoline or Rebounder
☐ A Jump or Speed Rope
☐ An Exercise Ball
☐ Weights or Dumbbells
☐ Yoga and Pilates Equipment and Accessories

Large Room

Converting your basement or garage into a home gym is a smart move for your wallet and your health. Besides, you don’t have to worry about the downstairs neighbours! Your setup will depend on what types of workouts you want to do. Do you enjoy lifting weights or doing cardio? Or do you like a balance of both?

Pro tip: Adding a mirror in your home gym will help you improve your form.
